Project Africa
- Feasibility study to cultivate rice in large scale operations in Senegal, West Africa.
- Potential: up to 30,000 + hectares of rice and 60,000+ hectares of other crops like maize, groundnuts, maize, sorghum, cotton
- Irrigated by gravity for rice; and sprinkler-type for the other crops. Rain-fed agriculture in selected areas for low water requirement crops.
- Land improvement by means of land leveling with GPS systems to keep native soil fertility in place while improving the micro-relief for less water requirements during irrigation or to improve surface drainage during the rainy season
- Topo and soil surveys at detailed scale to identify and select the best areas to develop
- Design of infrastructure: irrigation canals, roads, water control structures, field layout and land leveling cut/fill maps, using state-of-the-art GPS guided machinery
- Advice in crop management through our RiceCheck program
Our goals:
- Develop a sustainable and successful private investment project in West Africa
- Spread the project to neighboring countries
- Make socio and economic change opportunity for rural communities that lack hope, services and luck. Bring new job opportunities to women, usually they don’t get jobs or any kind of payment.
- Empower rural women (young, mothers) to become trained in modern agriculture, so they make their own income. We are sure women invest their income in their family and children via better food, health and education. Women we see as the axis for change in Africa.
