Our History, Our People:
Agricultura Científica S.A. was established by José Ma. Agüero an agronomist and agricultural engineer, devoted to project development and consulting in rice. Over time we have joined other successful professionals with whom we share common values, including the knowledge that together we can offer our customers greater value by combining our resources and talents of synergistic way. Today we have specialists in Agronomy, Soils and Plant Nutrition, Entomology, Plant Pathology, Weed Management, Agricultural Engineering, Mechanics, Geographic Information Systems, Computer Science, Meteorology.
Agricultura Científica in Costa Rica began in 1992 focusing on the development of agricultural projects in irrigation, land leveling and advice in the production of rice crops, with much attention to the problem of red rice and nutrition management in real time in rice fields. It was not long before our success grew and three years later we had projects in Panama and in 2000 we were in East Africa.
Since 2002 we have achieved the distribution and sale of software, hardware, equipment and machinery control systems, now offering the most complete line of precision agriculture in Central America and Caribbean Region.

Our Business
Agricultura Científica S.A. is focused on several key segments of the agricultural sector:
- Rice Production: Management and inspection of plantations with our successful package management practices derived from applied research in nutrition and crop protection and development of new hybrids in cooperative programs with agricultural research centers in Costa Rica and the United States, manuals of good practice production planning and control of execution by our “Ricecheck” program.
- Precision Agriculture: Planning, site-specific management, application of inputs at varying doses, assisted steering and autopilot GPS / RTK, yield mapping, analysis and interpretation of results.
- Land Surveying and leveling: 3D surveying with total stations and GPS / RTK, design of irrigation and drainage systems, land leveling laser and GPS / RTK
- Development Projects: Comprehensive management for agricultural development projects, master plans, investment plans, execution and control.
